Setanta Sports received a sports broadcasting license in Uzbekistan

The international media Setanta Sports received a broadcast license in Uzbekistan. The company currently broadcasts on digital and cable platforms in 15 countries in Europe and Asia and exclusively offers local viewers championships such as the English Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, UFC, NBA, Formula 1, and many others.

Lasha Machavariani, the founder of SMH and co-partner of Setanta Uzbekistan, says: “Uzbekistan is a fairly large and promising market, where our local partners and we were already able to obtain a television license, which was a rather complicated and lengthy process.

Currently, our channels are available on all platforms, for all citizens of Uzbekistan. It should also be noted that during three months of operation, Setanta Sports already has half a million active users, which is quite an impressive figure in such a short period of time, especially for this industry.”

David Japaridze, CCO of Setanta Sports, added: “Uzbekistan is one of the priority countries for Setanta Sports, where the rate of Internet penetration and population’s interest in sports are growing significantly. Almost half a million subscribers on the OTT platform in a record period is another proof that our users are interested in sports, especially in the championships and tournaments broadcasted by Setanta Sports. Therefore, we believe that obtaining a television license and developing in this direction will further strengthen our company.”

Setanta Sports is a sports television company based in Dublin, Ireland. In 2021, the company began to develop OTT platforms and, along with TV channels, introduced setantasports.com app to its users.

Currently, Setanta Sports operates in 15 countries in Europe and Asia: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines.
