Forbes: Gambling Industry Leaders in the Australia’s 50 Wealthiest List

Forbes Australia has published a list with 50 of the wealthiest Australians in 2023, which includes the most successful businessmen on the green continent with a combined fortune of $ 213 billion, up 70% compared to 2019.

Some of the representatives of the gambling business have also made the Forbes list. James Packer, a shareholder in Australian casino operator Crown Resorts (which owns properties in Australia and London), is ranked 17th; the fortune of a 55-year-old man is estimated at 2.8 billion US dollars.

In the 23rd place was 99-year-old Len Ainsworth and his family; in 1953, Ainsworth became the founder of Aristocrat Leisure, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of gambling equipment. The nearly 100-year-old has split his shares in the family business between his sons and ex-wife, but retains his right to a share of proceeds in the case Aristocrat Leisure goes on sale. According to Forbes, the family’s net worth is $2.2 billion.

At the top of Australia’s 50 Wealthiest people list in 2023 is Gina Rinehart, executive chairman of Hancock Prospecting mining company, with a net worth of $30.6 billion.

23 people on the 2022 Forbes Billionaires List were from the gambling industry.
