Bet365 Scam Leads Man to Prison Sentence

An Essex scammer has been sentenced to five years in prison for participating in an illegal activity against bet365 that swindled the bookmaker out of more than £236,000 using fake names and abusing bonuses.

John Howard has opened over 1,000 bet365 accounts using various aliases to bypass deposit restrictions and take advantage of various signup bonuses.

It became known in court that Howard and his accomplices used the information of people who voluntarily provided their data.

It is unclear when the man began running his scam, but Essex police first became aware of it in 2018. Howard was subsequently found guilty by a jury on bet365 and Santander fraud charges, but acquitted of money laundering charges.
